King bearings

King bearings should be your first choice of use in today’s technologically advanced engines. All King bearings are manufactured from a single layer of Alecular material incorporating super accurate manufacturing processes. King Alecular material is strong enough to withstand the high loads associated with 6000 plus horsepower top fuel dragster engines.

Extreme horsepower engines create extra load and heat that can cause engine bearings to flake during operation. Alecular material remains stable until 350°C which is 165°C higher than the tri-metal material whichcould fail at 185°C.

An alloy of aluminium, silicon, tin, copper and several other elements form the basis of the Alecular material. Combined with a high strength steel back, Alecular engine bearings provide greater embedability and conformability than tri-metal engine bearings. Failures caused by microparticles or connecting rod misalignment pose real problems and often lead to engine bearing failures. The protecting babbit overlay in the tri-metal material (.0008¨) is easily torn away causing the crankshaft journal to score against the hard copper layer underneath. Alecular material with a single layer (.015¨) is almost twenty times thicker than the tri-metal material. Because the Alecular material has no separate copper layer failures are all but eliminated.

King’s high quality control systems and state of the art automated machinery allow perfect tolerance control. Many other manufacturers can only provide tolerances of within ± .00025¨. King have perfected their engine bearing accuracy with their Bull’s eye quality system that is still unmatched by most manufacturer’s to within ± .0001¨.

That’s up to 150% greater accuracy than many other engine bearings on the market today.

"King bearings" are available to suit a full range of Australian, American, British, Japanese and Korean applications.

A generic term used for King’s Alecular material is bi-metal. All car manufacturers and even many traditional tri-metal bearing manufacturers have finally acknowledged that this type of bearing is the way forward.
