NTN’s unique micro-pitting surface finish increases bearing life in applications with insufficient lubrication. Based on the theory that oil film formation in bearing contact areas can be improved by changing the character and direction of the components’ surface finishes, the distinguishing micro-pots are able to effectively capture and channel oil to where it’s needed.


NTN’s pioneering efforts in developing crowned rollers have resulted in greater load-carrying capability and longer bearing life. Crowned rollers under load distribute stress equally along their full length of contact with the raceways, thereby eliminating stress concentration at the roller ends. This design concept also compensates for minor misalignment between shaft and housing bore and deflection under load, thereby reducing stress concentration.
 

Capable of taking high radial loads and axial loads in a single direction, NSK taper roller nsk bearings (Make Bold) are also available in two and four row versions to support axial loads in either direction.  Optimised designs can be supplied with high strength cages and, for arduous applications, in a range of advanced special materials.

Tapered bearings are uniquely designed to manage both thrust and radial loads on rotating shafts and in housings. We manufacture nearly 26,000 tapered roller ntn bearing combinations – in single, double and four-row tapered roller bearing configurations. Customized geometries and engineered surfaces can be applied to these Tapered bearings to further enhance performance in demanding applications.


Tapered bearings consist of four interdependent components: the cone, or inner ring; the cup, or outer ring; the tapered rollers, or rolling elements; and the cage, or roller retainer. The taper angles allow the bearing to handle a combination of radial and thrust loads. The steeper the cup angle, the greater the ability of the tapered roller bearing to handle thrust loads. 


The most basic and widely used tapered roller bearing, the single-row tapered roller bearing consists of the cone assembly and the cup. It is usually fitted as one of an opposing pair. During equipment assembly, single-row "taper bearings"  can be set to the required clearance or preload condition to optimize performance.
